The ISIFH was established in 1977 by Los Angeles Police Department psychologist Martin Reiser, Ed.D., and several of Dr. Reiser’s peers. The purpose of the society was to serve the needs of police officers and a limited number of mental health professionals who conducted Forensic Hypnosis sessions on witnesses and victims of crime. The society continues to focus its efforts on the growth of knowledge in the field and in the increased efficacy of forensic hypnosis in the legal system.
It is our intent to revive this organization to fill a void and provide its members with membership credentials and with the most current information related to Forensic Hypnosis.
Hypnotically refreshed recall is admissible in all 50 states when conducted for defense attorneys with their clients regarding pending cases. The seminal US Supreme Court case on the use of forensic hypnosis and hypnotically-refreshed testimony is Rock v. Arkansas, 483 U. S. 44 (1987).
We are in the process of attempting to obtain information as to the history of the past Presidents, Officers, Board of Directors, and past Life Members of this historical association of Forensic Hypnotists. If you have any information that may help, please forward it to ferg@ISIFH.org.
Please check back often as this organization grows and re-establishes its rightful position of leadership in this endeavor.
